MARCO POLO WOULD BE JEALOUS
The world is getting smaller.  On Tuesday, my hairdresser dressed my hair.  He and his wife are good friends of ours.  They decided to take their vacation and visit her sister, whose husband is an executive with a large U.S. corporation with headquarters in Shanghai.  And so on Tuesday he's washing my hair, and today.. I just got a bunch of emails from them with pictures of them riding bikes in Shanghai.   I mean.. seriously.....we've invented a way to put hundreds of people inside a metal projectile and launch it in to the air and keep it UP THERE..hurtling hundreds of miles an hour.....all the while showing movies and serving peanuts and drinks. And on Tuesday, he's in Franklin, TN being my hairdresser and on Thursday he's a tourist in China.    Just like that.. here today.. China tomorrow.  Anyway.. that's all.... That's all I wanted to say.. just that.. WOW.  Nothing profound or soul shaking.. just.. WOW.. they were just HERE and in one day they're THERE.  Marco Polo would be jealous.

FLIRTING WITH THE THIEF

Jesus said, "The thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy."  I have a friend who's been robbed.  The thief came and destroyed her marriage...to kill her family......and to destroy her very soul.  I've known her for decades and sometimes I think she opened the door and invited the thief to come in, sit around, drink some coffee and have a smoke with her.  She always flirted with the Thief... always was sorta fascinated with his side of the world.

But oh... how I loved her.  OH.. you can never know how dear a friend she was to me.  She was a friend to me.   She was a better friend to me than I was to her.

You can never know how much she gave to others.. how soft her heart was..how she prayed and cried out to the Lord for help.   She had so many things she had to overcome in life - things that were not her fault...hard things.... heartbreaking things.  And she kept trying.. and wave after wave after wave after wave of life kept hitting her and knocking her down.

Sometimes you just get too tired to keep trying to keep from drowning.  I read about a person once who was stranded at sea.. and eventually... he got so tired of doggy-paddling that he just stopped.  Even though he knew that he would die if he stopped trying.. Sometimes you can be so tired of trying to keep yourself from drowning that you just stop trying.

She stopped trying and she sank down to the depths. She stopped trying to follow Jesus, stopped trying to obey Him, stopped trying to honor Him with her life.  It's disappointing when it seems like you're doing everything Jesus asks you to do and STILL your life falls apart at your feet.

Jesus continued and said, "BUT... I have come that you might have life and might have it more abundantly".   You don't know her but I do.  You don't love her but I do.  You didn't die for her, I didn't die for her, but Jesus did.

Will you please... please.. please.. please.. pray for my friend?  PLEASE?  Pray that where ever she is today and what ever she is doing.. that the Holy Spirit that was once SO ALIVE in her will be stirred back to life?  Will you ask Jesus to do whatever it takes to get her attention and turn her back to Him?  Will you pray that she remembers the sweet love and holy presence of the Lord?   Please.  Will you put "Marie's Friend" on your prayer list? I believe that Jesus is going to get her attention.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Keep praying.  Thank you.

CHILDREN SINGING

The good news is that I've been swamped with new writing assignments.   The bad news is that means that my blogs won't be as lengthy.  The good news - for you- is that my blogs won't be as lengthy.   OK.. so last night.. the grandkids were on the deck singing songs to those of us gathered there. I've heard lots of singers singing lots of songs. This town is filled with them.  Tonight, the Dove Awards are happening here.  No music being played there will be etched in my memory as the music I heard last night.   I don't think anything will ever be as precious as watching those 3 beautiful children singing songs on our back deck.. the weather was perfect ( a virtual miracle here in TN) with a light breeze...warm sun... and that's it.  I wonder if that's how God feels to hear his children singing to him?

As I'm typing this.. it's 5 AM and a cow is MOOING outside.  Who knew I'd be living in the country?  I grew up in New York.  I've got to admit, I love the sound of a cow mooing.......as long as it's OUTSIDE.
